WHEN
HELP IS NEEDED
Occasionally a portion of your orthodontic appliances may break
or otherwise cause some discomfort. If this occurs, the patient
should first refer to the instructions they were given when the
appliances were placed. If you still need help then contact our
office for instructions. If necessary, the patient will be given
an immediate appointment, but we ask that the patient call before
coming to the office in order that we can prepare our schedule accordingly.
There is seldom and emergency situation in orthodontic therapy,
but if the patient is suffering discomfort, we welcome a call. Dr.
Karr’s and Dr. Blackman’s home phones are listed in
the directory should a true after-hours emergency arise.
REGULAR DENTAL CARE
We ask that each patient maintain continued regular dental
examinations with their dentist throughout their treatment in our
office. This allows each family dentist to keep abreast of his patient’s
progress and adds continuity to the treatment the family dentist
will need to render in the future.
FLUORIDE TREATMENT
We encourage each patient to have flouride treatment as
prescribed by their dentist. We also prescribe a tropical flouride
gel to be used daily by our patients while they are using appliances.
The additional treatment care greatly reduces the incidence of decay
or decalcification while in braces.
